Spree Commerce provides a practical foundation for B2B ecommerce — with core B2B features available in the free Community Edition, more advanced capabilities arriving in Spree 6.0, and enterprise-grade workflows available in Spree Enterprise Edition. Whether you’re running wholesale pricing for trade accounts, managing multi-region B2B operations, or building a fully custom procurement portal, Spree gives you the tools to match your business model without being locked into a fixed SaaS product.

B2B Features in Community Edition

The following B2B capabilities are available in Spree’s free Community Edition and can be configured directly in the admin dashboard — no development required.

Price Lists

Price Lists let you create and manage custom pricing for specific customer segments. You can:
  • Offer different prices to different buyer groups (e.g., retail vs. wholesale vs. distributor tiers)
  • Combine rules — target a specific customer group and a specific market — to apply regional wholesale pricing automatically
  • Apply volume pricing rules that activate based on order quantity
  • Schedule time-limited pricing or leave it open-ended
  • Manage everything without duplicating product records or writing any code
See Products → Price Lists for the full reference.

Customer Groups

Customer Groups let you segment buyers into defined lists, which become the foundation for targeted pricing and promotions:
  • Create groups for wholesale accounts, trade partners, VIP buyers, or any custom segment
  • Use groups as a rule condition in Price Lists to ensure each buyer type always sees their correct pricing
  • Restrict promotions to specific segments using Promotion Rules
See Customers → Customer Groups for the full reference.

Markets

Markets define distinct shopping experiences for different regions — each with its own currency, language, and tax settings. For B2B, Markets work alongside Price Lists to deliver regional wholesale pricing:
  • Serve US wholesale buyers USD prices and EU wholesale buyers EUR prices, all from one storefront
  • Apply VAT-inclusive pricing in EU markets automatically
  • Support multi-region B2B expansion without building separate stores
See Settings → Markets for the full reference.

Gated Storefronts

Spree supports gated storefront configurations that require buyers to log in before they can browse products or see prices — a common requirement for wholesale and trade portals. This means you can restrict your storefront to approved accounts only, keeping catalog and pricing confidential from anonymous visitors.

What You Can Build with Community Edition

With Price Lists, Customer Groups, Markets, and gated storefronts, you can build real B2B scenarios today:
  • Wholesale pricing — retail and wholesale customers on the same storefront, each seeing their own contracted prices
  • Multi-tier distributor pricing — independent price lists for different distributor tiers or named accounts
  • Regional wholesale pricing — different wholesale prices per market, in the correct currency, applied automatically based on where the buyer shops
  • B2B2C hybrid store — standard retail prices for public visitors, custom pricing for logged-in trade accounts — no separate store required
  • Trade-only portals — gated storefronts where unapproved visitors cannot see products or prices
See Set Up Wholesale Pricing and Set Up Regional Wholesale Pricing for step-by-step guides.

Coming in Spree 6.0

The following features are on the open-source roadmap and will be available in Spree 6.0.
  • B2B Buyer Organizations — Company accounts with locations and contacts, allowing multiple buyers to operate under a single business account.
  • B2B Catalogs — Curated per-segment product assortments, so different buyer groups can see different subsets of your catalog.

Enterprise Edition

The following capabilities are available in Spree Enterprise Edition.
  • B2B Approval Workflows & ERP Integrations — Role-based approval chains for order sign-off, and pre-built connectors for procurement and ERP systems.
For a full overview of Enterprise Edition capabilities across security, support, and multi-tenant architecture, see the feature comparison.
